Metepec, Méx- In Metepec, Fernando Flores Fernández did not forget about sport, athletes, young people and their families, a few hours after his third and last government report in the 2022-2024 administration, the mayor continues to promote physical activation through the Municipal Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of the district.
Since the beginning of his administration, Fernando Flores Fernández has placed special emphasis on the promotion of physical activation at all levels, and in view of his third government report it is worth highlighting actions and programs that he has implemented in sports. , among them, six important areas in which work has been done through the Municipal Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of Metepec (IMCUFIDEM).
Through the Ponte Fitness Program, IMCUFIDEM has activated 20 neighborhoods and/or municipal delegations, where 24,403 people actively participated, mostly women, with activities such as step, Zumba or functional training and, in turn, provided them with nutritional guidance given by staff. trained in nutrition to reinforce the benefits that this program gives them for their physical health. During the three-year period there were nearly 93 thousand attendees.
The massification of physical activation and the promotion of healthy habits was achieved with the 2024 Barro Half Marathon, which brought together 2,500 competitors in its third edition, with the participation of boys and girls in children’s races, and adults by also offering the distances of 5K, 10K and 21K.
Another important action that has allowed different disciplines to be brought to communities and neighborhoods of Metepec is “Sport in your Colony”, with which different delegations of the municipality and public educational institutions have been visited with 1,635 beneficiaries, all of them minors, where They teach taekwondo, tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball, cycling, among others.
The delegational tournaments and cycling races for boys, girls, young people and the general public also stand out, already adding 1,400 attendees in the last year.
Another area worth highlighting by IMCUFIDEM is the support and encouragement of athletes who already represent the municipality, the state or even the country, for which 223 economic incentives have been assigned and delivered to athletes, coaches, physical activators, judges. and referees in the sports field.
Another action that IMCUFIDEM worked on was to create and consolidate the Sports Initiation, Training and Development Centers, which are located in different delegations of the municipality and where 194 sports scholarships were awarded.
It stands out that, during the three-year period, different sporting events were organized and supported, with more than 17 thousand attendees at different sports units, parks, squares and streets in the municipal territory.
