Santander present with 316 athletes. The best of young national sports talent in the first conventional and inclusion multi-sport fairs perform the opening ceremony in the city of Pereira. Competitions from November 9 to 28.
The First National Youth Games hold the opening ceremony at the Hernán Ramírez Villegas stadium in the capital of Risaralda. In the event of the country’s near sporting future, 5,699 athletes will be competing, including 507 Para athletes, who will compete in 35 Olympic and 12 Paralympic sports.
This will be the first multi-sport event in the country’s history to have a calendar that brings together the Olympic and Paralympic sectors. 32 delegations confirmed their participation. Santander participates with 316 young people, willing to give everything for our region in the search for the desired podium.
“Through the Government of Santander and after the different qualifiers at the national level, 316 young athletes, along with 114 delegates, our department will have a decent and outstanding presentation, we provide our delegation with the best in logistics, biomedical action and everything what is required for games of this level,” said InderSantander director Ariel Rojas Rodríguez.
Sports disciplines
35 sports in the Olympic sector have participation. Archery, athletics, badminton, dance sports, basketball, handball, softball, baseball, bowling, boxing, boating, cycling, equestrian, fencing, water skiing, gymnastics, golf, judo, karate do, weightlifting, wrestling, swimming, skating , racquetball, rugby sevens, surfing, squash, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, sports shooting, triathlon, sailing, volleyball and sports climbing, the latter will be an exhibition.
For its part, in the Paralympic sector, 12 sports will be carried out: Para archery, Para athletics, Para badminton, boccia, soccer for the blind, PC soccer, Para cycling, visual judo, Para swimming, Para powerlifting, Para table tennis and tennis in wheelchair.
The main venues for the event will be the cities of the Coffee Region: Pereira, Armenia and Manizales, with sub-venues in Cali, Bogotá, Buenaventura, Nilo and Calima Darién.
These games will be the springboard for the youth talent that the country has, giving young athletes and Para athletes a unique platform to demonstrate their potential and compete at the highest level, which becomes the first platform to fulfill the sporting dream of each athlete, to reach the Olympic and Paralympic games.
The ceremony will feature a Hip-Hop show with dancers on stage and typical dances from all regions of the country, demonstrating the diversity and cultural richness that characterizes Colombia. The opening show will be a journey through Colombian geography through music, celebrating national identity and highlighting the importance of unity and respect for all cultural expressions of the country.
