Yet another midweek round of this crazy season that gives no respite, Juvi visits Sella Cento, a team that, as coach Bechi said, plays in the same championship as Oroamaranto; therefore a game of capital importance for Cremona who want, and need, to regain the two points that have been missing for four rounds now.
First quarter at a dizzying pace marked at the start by the Americans of the two teams, Cento tries to break away with a 7-0 which sees Nobile as the great protagonist but Juvi does not give up and responds with a 9-0 counterbreak thanks to triples from the Brown trio – Barbante-Tortù, the match remains very enjoyable with the attacks on the shields, Bertetti finds two talented points, the Davis-Alessandrini tandem keeps the hosts tied but the last basket is scored by Giombini for the Cremonese 26-24 at the end of the first period.
The Oroamarantos also started aggressively in the second half taking advantage of the supersonic speed of their Americans, Massone scored an important triple for him and for his confidence while Cento only found points from the Alessandrini-Davis pair; in the moment of maximum pressure from the hosts here is the oroamaranto reaction with a 7-0 which is worth the maximum advantage on +9, Sella struggles tremendously in attack, with a few too many inaccuracies even with the clock stopped, Cremona thanks them and closes with Brown’s free throws and a triple at the siren from the wild Polanco make it 49-39 for Juvino at halftime.
Only one team comes out of the locker rooms and it is Sella Cento, Henderson in Superman version scores an 8-0 to start, then expanded by Nobile and Davis who put the arrow and overtake while Juvi is in total doll, unable to find solutions in both the halves of the pitch; the home team continues to shoot from the arc with surgical precision, Davis plays havoc, Cremona with a leap of pride catches Barbante’s four, Bertetti’s central triple, Brown’s jewel from the middle and the two quick ones again from Bertetti for -2 but with only six seconds on the clock Sperduto is, in fact, “lost” by the oroamaranto defense and scores 72-68 at the end of the third quarter (33-19 the crazy partial).
After three minutes of great intensity but little clarity the teams put their sights back in place, Brown continues to provide beauty in attack, Davis and Sperduto keep the +5, Polanco nibbles on the counterattack, Henderson puts things back in order, Bertetti goes with the bomb and then it is Morgillo with four yarns to rewrite the tie at 83; it’s an all-American battle with the Polanco-Brown duo facing a crazy Davis, seven seconds from the end the match is still tied, Davis’ shot doesn’t go but practically at the siren a foul is called against Brown, Sperduto puts in the first shot and misses the second handing the victory to the home team with a score of 88-87.
