Can Jackson turn the tide against the Steelers? (1 p.m. at RDS)
Seven years after the start of his career, Lamar Jackson has won more NFL MVP awards (two) than he has victories against the Steelers. Jackson is 1-3 as a starter against the Steelers heading into Sunday’s showdown at Acrisure Stadium.
The 27-year-old sits atop the NFL in passing efficiency and passing touchdowns while masterfully leading the league’s most powerful offense, the Baltimore Ravens.
Jackson only threw four touchdown passes while being intercepted seven times against the Pennsylvania squad.
If Jackson and the Ravens (7-3) want to win, they’ll have to take it to the next level against the NFL’s second-best run defense. And if that happens, the Steelers believe they have the elements in place to respond, unlike in recent years.
The Steelers have shifted into another gear since Russell Wilson returned from a calf injury last month. The quarterback is undefeated in his three starts, averaging 30 points per game on offense.
Expected clash between Chiefs and Bills (4 p.m. at RDS2)
A duel of tenors in the NFL also takes place on the side of Buffalo as the Bills welcome the team still undefeated this season after nine games, the Kansas City Chiefs.
It took a miraculous little play to allow the Chiefs to record their ninth victory in as many outings last week against the Denver Broncos
The Bills have only lost two games this season and they still have their sights set on the top of the American Association which obviously belongs to Kansas City.
This matchup is one between star quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. The Chiefs quarterback has a slight edge in the matchup with a 4-3 record. Mahomes has always been able to lead his team to victory, but the Chiefs’ defense is at the heart of the team’s success this season. The quarterback has already been the victim of a total of nine interceptions against 12 touchdown passes.
The Chiefs are trying to tie the team high with a 10th straight regular season victory. The mark was established in 2015 and matched in 2020.
Burrow-Herbert duel in LA (8 p.m. at RDS2)
In the evening, SoFi Stadium will be the scene of the second clash between two former first-round picks in the 2020 draft, Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert, while the Cincinnati Bengals will be the visitors against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Chargers are having a good time, having won three straight games to sit three games over .500 at 6-3, and 4-1 since returning from an early bye week.
For their part, the Bengals slipped to 4-6 after a heartbreaking defeat suffered at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens, despite one of the best performances of Burrow’s career.
Cincy’s star quarterback leads the NFL in air yards (2,672) and completions (246), and is tied for the lead with Lamar Jackson (Baltimore) and Baker Mayfield (Tampa Bay) for touchdown passes, 24.
This is the Bengals’ first visit to Southern California since their 23-20 Super Bowl loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021 season.
