Mbappé after scoring for Real: Slowly finding rhythm

Real Madrid, used to success, is not yet satisfied with the season. Superstar newcomer Mbappé can also improve. His latest statements should please fans.

After the end of a recent goal drought and finally back in his favorite position, Kylian Mbappé feels more and more integrated at Real Madrid. The French soccer star took the lead in a 3-0 win over CD Leganes and said afterwards: “I’m starting to find a rhythm with my teammates.”

Most recently, Mbappé had not scored in four games in the championship and Champions League. Against Leganes, coach Carlo Ancelotti had him play on the left offensive side for the first time this season. Since his move in the summer, the 2018 world champion had always played center forward at Real.

“That’s the story of my career,” he said afterwards on RealmadridTV and added reassuringly: “I play on the right, left, in the middle or with two in front of me. That doesn’t matter to me. I want to help the team and score goals. I can play in all positions.”

The gap to Barcelona shortened – now a cracker in the Champions League

The Madrilenians, who are used to success, are not completely satisfied with the team’s performance despite Mbappé’s nine competitive goals so far this season. In the league, the record champions reduced the gap to arch-rivals FC Barcelona to four points and also have a catch-up game to play.

In the premier European football league, Real, as defending champions, is not on target with only six points from four games so far. And now there is a particularly difficult task: On Wednesday (9 p.m. / DAZN) Madrid has to face the sovereign Premier League and Champions League leaders Liverpool FC.
