First a metal plate fell from the roof of the stadium, then the Dallas Cowboys showed their next disappointing performance in the Monday Night Game of the NFL professional football league.

After the 10:34 defeat against the Houston Texans, the proud franchise is still waiting for its first home win of the season. Hours before the game began, the roof of the $1.3 billion arena was scheduled to be reopened for the first time since October 2022, but part of it collapsed onto the field. No one was injured in the incident and the roof was subsequently closed again.

Things weren’t going well in terms of sport either; for the first time since 1989, the Cowboys started a season with five consecutive home defeats. It was the fifth bankruptcy in a row. “I don’t know if there’s anything other than the obvious – and that is that we’re just not playing very well,” said club owner Jerry Jones.

Running back Joe Mixon scored three touchdowns for Houston, which consolidated first place in the AFC South with its seventh win in its eleventh game. Dallas (3:7) can only dream of the playoffs.
