REGION • Montfoort SV’19 lost 2-0 to PVCV in Vleuten. In the initial phase, the Montfoorters missed two good chances, after which the home club opened the score. The crossbar prevented a second Vleutens goal. Emrie Bakker was unlucky that his effort just before half-time did not result in an equalizer.
The ball caromed back into the field via the inside of the post. In the second half, Montfoort SV’19 managed to create few opportunities with the wind at their backs. A header from Mike van Oostrom was prey for the Vleutenian goalkeeper. PVCV did hit the mark. After Montfoort brought in three fresh workers, it was reduced to ten men. Timo Bakker immediately got red after a charge that was too hard. From that moment on, Montfoort SV’19 plays a losing match.
VVIJ continues to win
VVIJ has started the first of the four top matches before the winter break well. At the IJsselstein Groenvliet sports park, VVIJ won 2-0 against Zwaluwen Utrecht 1911, which ended the match with nine men. Enrico Rutten Robles gave the home club the lead.
The physical play of the guests resulted in no goals, but a series of yellow and red cards. VVIJ kept a cool head. In the final phase, Teun Veldpaus secured the victory. On Saturday VVIJ will take on the third division club of the same name in Maarssen, after which the top match in Harmelen against leader SCH’44 is scheduled for December 7. Expectations are high.
Fourth win in a row for IJFC
IJFC won 0-5 in Utrecht against Odysseus’91, which was the better team in the first half. IJFC goalkeeper Niels Brokking kept the IJsselstein third division team in the match with fantastic saves. Ruben van Rooijen surprisingly gave IJFC the lead. After the break, the IJsselsteiners literally and figuratively had the wind behind them, although it took a long time before the liberating second goal was scored. Fifteen minutes before the end, Tamer Ugur applied good pressure.
A back pass was intercepted. Justin Colle then scored. In the final phase, Stefan de Wit secured the victory after a rehearsed free kick. In injury time, Achraf el Jerari saw the opportunity to score twice more.
Benschop gets up to speed after the break
Benschop won 2-5 against SC Everstein in Everdingen, which led 1-0 halfway. After the Benschoppen team missed a great chance, SC Everstein found the net. Benschop played quite well and waited for his chances. Sander van Riet scored immediately after halftime, after which Mike Vergouw scored a genuine hat trick.
Mo el Harracha, who had recovered from a muscle injury, had the last word. “It is now fun to be Benschop’s captain,” says Bryan de Boer, laughing. “There is now much more constructive football in the team and we look for the sides. We have the right players for this style of play.”
“Remain calm was my advice, which I gave to the playing group at halftime,” continued Benschop coach Marcel van Steenis. “We scored three times within ten minutes. After that we did not go along with the physical play of the home club.”
Flattering defeat Cabauw
Cabauw lost 1-4 to number two Be Fair from Waddinxveen, which effectively took advantage of a Cabauw defensive error within 60 seconds. After twenty minutes of play, Nick Jongbloed scored the equalizer. “It was an even match until half time,” said Cabauw coach Bert Potuyt.
“We didn’t get many chances in the second half. The crossbar prevented Jongbloed’s second goal. After Be Fair took the lead, we took more risks to force the equalizer. That didn’t work. In the final phase it was all-or-nothing. Be Fair used the resulting space and scored twice more in injury time.”
SV Lopik gets the short end of the stick
SV Lopik lost 2-1 in Odijk to the village club of the same name, which leads the rankings. Both teams applied as much pressure as possible, creating a physical match. “There was no good football,” said SV Lopik coach Jitse Boonstra.
“The home club had two tall, strong strikers, with whom we had difficulty. We fell behind before half time. With a nice goal, Thomas Bakker brought us alongside again. Then a species emerged ping-pong match, which could have gone either way. A draw would have reflected the relationships better, but unfortunately Odijk won the victory.”
SPV’81loopt punt mis
SPV’81 lost 1-0 to Dilettant in Krimpen aan de Lek. In the first half, the home club failed to distance itself from the Polsbroek guests. Kenneth Nelstein’s team, which won the title of Sports Team of the Lopikerwaard on Friday evening because of the championship of the fifth division, only had one chance before half time. However, Sander Koolwijk misjudged the target-ready situation. “We held our own,” Nelstein said.
“We came back strongly in the second half. In the last half hour of the match we started playing more opportunistically and Dilettant hardly got around to playing football anymore. It’s a pity that we couldn’t get a point with good-old Michiel Boers in the team.”
Sam da Cruz shows Linschoten the way
Partly thanks to a hat trick from Sam da Cruz, Linschoten won 4-2 against Gouderak. “It was not an easy match for us,” Linschoten coach Marco van Dijk said afterwards.
“Gouderak was a tough opponent. Sam da Cruz scored twice before halftime. Due to an unfortunate own goal, Gouderak, which occasionally looked dangerous, remained in the match. Once again Da Cruz and Joey van Kouwen secured the victory. Just before time, the guests use a pingel. On Saturday we play against leader Moordrecht, which has one point more than us. We’re going for it.”
