This meeting was an opportunity to recall, on behalf of the Government, the unacceptable nature of the deployment, during the match between PSG and Atlético Madrid on Wednesday November 6, of a political tifowhich has no place in a sports arena.
The meeting also made it possible to reaffirm the general responsibility of the club in the event of deployment of tifos containing any provocative message of a political, ideological, religious or insulting nature.
During the discussions, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Community Life demanded guarantees from the club, in order to prevent the recurrence of such an event. Among these guarantees, several proposals were mentioned:
- The ban on tifos within the Auteuil tribune until the end of the calendar year ;
- Implementation of an a priori verification of tifos by the club in order to avoid this type of incident in the future.
Access to the Parc des Princes is also prohibited. since Wednesday, and for an indefinite period, to the CUP supporters group outside of match days.
Furthermore, the club is committed to continuing its efforts in terms of stadium commercial bans for individual situations involving supporters exhibiting behavior proven to be incompatible with the stadium’s internal regulations.
The Minister of the Interior, the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Community Life and the Secretary of State responsible for citizenship and the fight against discrimination have taken note of the club’s commitments. They will be particularly attentive to respecting these commitments so that sporting events remain places protected from any message of a political nature.
