Michael Chandler is clearly not unanimous, especially with a former Bellator champion. The latter took advantage of his recent defeat to express his strong opinion about him.
Michael Chandler stepped into the Octagon earlier this month during the main card of UFC 309 (full results here). There he faced Charles Oliveira in a highly anticipated rematch. Despite a late surge, Chandler lost by unanimous decision to ‘Do Bronx’. Although the fans present at Madison Square Garden appreciated his attempt at a comeback, one of his former adversaries does not share this opinion at all.
Brent Primus destroys Michael Chandler’s performance
During an interview with MMAFighting.comBrent Primus, who beat Mansour Barnaoui during Bellator Paris in 2023, did not hide his pleasure at seeing Charles Oliveira win again against Michael Chandler:
« He was bad in his last fight ” Primus said of Chandler’s loss. “ I couldn’t believe it. I think Chandler was bad. His footwork was messy, he was falling everywhere. He threw his forehand like he was throwing a baseball. His performance didn’t impress me. His call after the fight was a little awkward. »
Primus didn’t mince his words when expressing his disdain for Chandler: ” I don’t like this guy. I think Chandler is a cheater. I feel like he’s a dirty fighter. I don’t like it at all. Watching Oliveira demolish him like that was pretty fun, that’s for sure. I liked that. »
Primus and Chandler have faced each other twice in Bellator. Primus won their first fight by medical stoppage, but Chandler got his revenge in their second duel, winning by unanimous decision. Despite the resentment, these stories go back a long time. Brent Primus will return to the cage this Friday during PFL 10, facing Gadzhi Rabadanov. As for Chandler, he remains hopeful of landing lucrative fights against Conor McGregor, who also congratulated him for his performance.
