The races are mostly unspectacular, some even call them boring. The street circuit in Monte Carlo is too narrow for overtaking. But Formula 1 doesn’t want to miss out on the classic.
Formula 1 and Monaco remain true to each other. The premier motorsport class extended its contract with the principality early for a further six years up to and including 2031.
The course, where overtaking is almost impossible and therefore offers little action and spectacle during the races, was raced back in 1950. It has been a fixture on the racing calendar since 1995, but the Grand Prix was canceled in 2020 due to the corona pandemic.
