The Dutchman Jahnein Pieterse was easily elected head of the federation which deals with European rugby, excluding Six Nations.
Vice-President of Rugby Europe for seven years, Frenchman Christian Dullin was a candidate to become president of this federation which manages European rugby, apart from the countries of the Six Nations Tournament. The former secretary of the FFR, under the presidency of Bernard Laporte, wanted to succeed the Romanian Octavian Morariu, who could not run again. But things did not go as planned as he was badly beaten by the Dutchman Jahnein Pieterse, who had the support of the British and who received 71% of the vote, or more than two thirds of the vote.
Christian Dullin was supported by the FFR, but also by Italy, Spain, Portugal and even Romania. With a view to the next elections for presidency of the International Federation (World Rugby), the choice of Jahnein Pieterse should lead to support (two votes) from the Australian Brett Robinson, supported by England, to the detriment of the French candidate , Abdelatif Benazzi.
