The two swimmers respectively won the national title in the 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle this Sunday.
Dominators throughout the competition, Béryl Gastaldello and Maxime Grousset finished the French Short Course Swimming Championships with new titles, respectively in the 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle. More of a crawl specialist, Gastaldello distinguished herself in the 50m butterfly by winning the title in 24 sec 76/100, the second best world performance of the year. The 29-year-old swimmer, without a club since the end of the Olympics, had already won the national titles in the 100m freestyle, 100m medley and 100m backstroke earlier in the competition.
Grousset, bronze medalist with the 4x100m medley relay at the Olympics this summer, won his sixth title of the week by dominating the 50m freestyle final. Mewen Tomac, for his part, completed the backstroke hat-trick by adding the 100m title to those in the 50 and 200m won earlier.
