Mayor Mauro García received the Rodrigues delegation that traveled to Mar del Plata to participate in the 33rd edition of the finals of the Buenos Aires Games.
Our district had 220 representatives from the Youth, PWD and Seniors categories; obtaining a total of 25 medals (9 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze). Athletics and judo were the disciplines with the most outstanding performances of our athletes.
“We know that if we bet on sport and culture we will continue to have good results and that is the path we will continue on,” said García, who in turn highlighted the effort and permanent support of the families, coaches and authorities throughout the year of competition.
This year, more than 26,000 athletes and cultural representatives from all the municipalities of the province entered the Buenos Aires finals, with General Rodríguez occupying a place within the top 30 districts of the medal table.
In that sense, it is worth highlighting the presence of local athletics that awarded eight medals for our delegation, based on the performance of Celeste Molina, who won a gold medal in the 300 m freestyle (under 16) and, while her sister Delfina declared winner of the 800 m freestyle event (under 16). On the other hand, in the men’s branch, the victory of Facundo Cabrera was recorded, in the PCD athletics 100 m final (free motor 40/41 – sub 15), and Máximo Evis in the javelin throw (sub 16).
The remaining four medals were the bronzes obtained by Tiara Morales in Long Jump (sub 18), Emma Bustamante in High Jump (sub 14), Javier Romero Tapia, in 100 m PCD (PC 36 – sub 16) and Alexis Manzur in PCD Long Jump (PC 36 – sub 16).
Another sport that had important results for the Rodriguenses was Judo, starting with the triumph of Joaquín Ruiz de Gopegui in the +64 Kg (under 14) final; the second places achieved by Brisa Mercado, in +44 kg (sub 14), and Dana Ferreyra (+ 64 kg) and the bronze medal by Cristian Bello in the +44 Kg (sub 14). In turn, Bello won the under 14 team Judo final, along with his teammate Máximo Ciafardini (+64 kg).

In the Greco-Roman Wrestling events, General Rodríguez also stood out with Renzo Roux’s gold in the 55 to 65 kg category (sub 14) and the silver medal in the 65 to 75 kg final (sub 14) achieved by Tomás Soda. Meanwhile, in Wrestling there were also two bronze medals from Juan Loto (50 to 60 Kg – sub 14) and Natalia Medina (48 to 55 Kg – sub 14).
Likewise, General Rodríguez also took first place in the mixed 7-a-side soccer tournament (sub 13) and the bronze achieved in women’s 11-a-side soccer (sub 16). As for Chess, the young Tatiana Pallone became the winner of the women’s final (under 14), while Guadalupe Olivera Sacchi climbed onto the podium with third place in the women’s under 16 category.
It is also worth noting the silver medals achieved by Jesús Melchor in PCD Table Tennis (under 18 – mixed); Matias Restani, in PCD Swimming (sub 14 – free), and what was achieved by the duo made up of Pedro Gonzalez and Ignacio Canas, who took second place in the Orienteering final (+60 – Men). Meanwhile, General Rodríguez managed to add a bronze in the finals of Mixed Free Choreography for Seniors.
