The penultimate day of the Evita 2024 National Games left a positive balance for Corrientes, which managed to add medals in both conventional and adapted sports.
As part of this Friday’s event, on the EMDER athletics track, Ignacio Cañete won the gold medal in shot put with a record of 14.41 meters, relegating Bruno Ceballos to second place (13.31) from Río Negro and the third to Enrique Guaymas (12.92) from Salta.
For her part, Luciana Gómez from Goya took bronze in the discus throw with a mark of 32.42 meters. The test was won by Catalina Montaño from Santa Fe with a throw of 35.88.
Olympic weightlifting brought three medals. For the third consecutive year, Valentina Cabral won gold in the category up to 64 kg. of body weight in Olympic weightlifting.
While Mauricio Mareco, in 73 kg, also won the gold in weightlifting, and Aníbal Fernández won the bronze medal in 81 kg.
The Corrientes mixed badminton team won the bronze medal by beating Santa Cruz 2 to 0 in the match for third place (21 to 18 and 21 to 11 in the sets). First place went to San Luis, which won the final against Río Negro 2 to 0.
For this Saturday, podium definitions in WT taekwondo are expected from Abel Balbastro and Gabriel Rodríguez, both from Santo Tomé.
Silver Cup
The adapted athletes from Corrientes contributed gold and silver medals and in this way, due to their excellent performance in the competition, they won the Silver Cup in athletics.
Gold medals: María Paz Acuña Sandoval in shot put. Josías Piedrabuena in the 100 meters. Bruno Galarza in 100 meters. Sebastián Flores in the 100 meters wheelchair and Josías Piedrabuena in the 1500 meters.
Silver medals: Ruth Gallard in the 100 meters. Sahid Paredes in 100 meters and Bruno Galarza in 1500 meters.
Good results were also recorded in table tennis and Boccia.
