Born in 1986, he first reached the top of singles in a major tournament at the 2005 French Open, and has since won a total of 22 singles titles in major tournaments until the French Open in 2022. This is the second-highest number of major men’s singles wins, following Djokovic’s 24.
He won the French Open 14 times and was called the ‘Emperor of the Clay Court’. At the Olympics, he won the singles gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Games and the men’s doubles gold medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.
Nadal said, “People will know more about my titles and records, but I want to be remembered more as a good person from a small town in Mallorca.”
Nadal did not regret losing the last game.
He lost on his Davis Cup debut in 2004.
