Guangdong Shaxi team defends the national “Village BA” championship

Guangdong once again won the national “Village BA” championship trophy! On the evening of November 15th, the finals of the 2024 National Rural Basketball (Village BA) Cultural Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as the “National ‘Village BA'”) kicked off in Jinjiang City, Fujian Province, with the Guangdong Zhongshan Shaxi Team (hereinafter referred to as the ” Guangdong Shaxi Team”) played against Fujian Quanzhou Baogai Team (hereinafter referred to as “Fujian Baogai Team”) in an away game. They defeated their opponents with a score of 89:80 and successfully defended the national championship. Guangdong Shaxi Team player Li Yanjun won the “Best Player” title.
This national “Village BA” was held from November 8th to 15th in Dongpu Village, Yinglin Town, Jinjiang City, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, and Xikeng Village, Yonghe Town.
At 19:30 on the 15th, the finals officially started. After the opening, the Guangdong Shaxi team scored three consecutive points and made many steals to launch a fast break. The score was stretched to 29:14 in the first quarter. At the beginning of the second quarter, the Fujian Baogai team regained its form and scored multiple three-pointers in a row, forcing the Guangdong Shaxi team to call timeout twice. After the first half, the score was recovered to 52:45, and the Guangdong Shaxi team temporarily took the lead. In the second half, the Guangdong Shaxi team once again widened the point difference, and the Fujian Baogai team pursued hard.
In village-level basketball competitions, the Guangdong Shaxi team has long demonstrated its “dominance”. Previously, the Zhongshan Shaxi Town Men’s Basketball Team had won the Zhongshan Men’s Basketball League Championship for seven consecutive years, and won the overall championship in the first national “Village BA” held last year. In this national “Village BA” competition, the Guangdong Shaxi team represented Guangdong Province and “swept” its opponents with an unbeaten record and won the championship again.
