The professional career of Andres Guardado as a footballer it is coming to an end. The midfielder has announced through social networks his withdrawal after almost two decades of career. “I want to make public my decision to leave football, that at the end of this season I will stop being a professional player after 19 years,” can be read in the message published by Guardado on Instagram.
«To thank the Atlas that trained me and then each of the teams to which I belonged, Deportivo La Coruña, Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen, PSV, Betis, I would not know how to thank the trust they had in me, the moments I lived there», Guardado, who lived in Heliópolis for almost seven years, also commented.
The midfielder signed for Betis in the summer 2017 and in the 2024 winter market his return to Mexican football was announced when he signed for Club León. Guardado’s career at Betis included 218 official matches in which he scored five goals and gave 17 assists.
Guardado has a career that has a special section in his country’s team. The midfielder made his debut for Mexico in December 2005 and less than a month ago he reached the figure of 182 games by participating in the friendly against the United States that ended with a 2-0 victory for Mexico.
