Business status
In the 2023-24 season, Japan will host the FIBA World Cup 2023, and Japan’s men’s basketball team will participate in the Paris Olympics. In addition, in the league structure reform called “B. Innovation”, it was a very exciting season with the new arena concept and the entrance examination for B. LEAGUE PREMIER (hereinafter referred to as B Premier). Due to this favorable environment, B.LEAGUE is attracting a lot of attention and is gaining recognition as a professional basketball sports business. In terms of business, B.LEAGUE also had a great year, with the number of visitors reaching 4.5 million (an increase of approximately 1.3 million compared to the previous year).
At our club, the new arena OPEN HOUSE ARENA OTA is now in full operation. Embodying a production that allows you to feel an “extraordinary and immersive feeling,” many new fans have increased, and the number of visitors has reached 157,000 annually (60,000 compared to the previous year), 3rd in the league (13th in the previous year). (Increase in players): An average of 5,244 players per game (an increase of 2,024 players compared to the previous year).
In terms of expenses, personnel expenses for players, team staff, and front office staff, as well as production and operating expenses at the box office, increased, but we were able to significantly increase admission fee revenue, which is an important indicator, and as a result, merchandise sales and fan club The number of members increased, and sales and net income were the highest ever.
In addition, we have achieved the quantitative criteria for B Premier screening, with average attendance of over 4,000 people and sales of over 1.2 billion yen, and we have been selected to enter B Premier.
In terms of the team’s season results, although they missed their goal of participating in the championship, they achieved a record of 31 wins and 29 losses (previous season (29 wins and 31 losses)), their first win in the B1 league.
