PERUGIA – New important success for Alessandro Bicorgni, athlete of the ASD I Poeti del judo who carved out an important space for himself in the national final of the 2024 Italian A1 Judo Cup. The talent from Perugia won a bronze medal in his category (-66kg) in the competitions held in Ostia a few days ago. The balance sheet tells of three matches won: the first, in pool B matches, with an opponent from a Ligurian club, the second with a “colleague” from a Lazio club. The one that led to the bronze then arrived instead with a representative of a company from Friuli. Only one defeat occurred, the one against an athlete from Puglia who then placed second overall in the category.
SATISFACTION
Bicorgni, Junior in his first year, once again showed great commitment and ability. With the podium in Ostia “he adds another heavy medal to his collection – explains the Perugian club – but above all he continues to demonstrate his constant growth also in the categories of Senior athletes and we are sure that soon the color of the medal will be different” . Thus the Judo Poets in commenting on the excellent performance of the Perugian.
«Heartfelt congratulations to the judoka, his technical staff and his family» also came from the Umbrian regional committee of Fijlkam. «The final of the A1 Italian Cup, the national competition that closes 2024, gives Umbria a beautiful bronze medal, thanks to Alessandro Bicorgni».
GROWTH
Just a few days ago there was another very important experience for Alessandro, in that case with an international flavour. In fact, he had participated in the European Open in Rome 2024 together with coach Luca Poeta. On that occasion, after winning the first match, he stopped in the second round against an expert Cypriot athlete, then first classified in the -66 kg category. In his first year in the junior class and at his first European Open, Alessandro entered among the youngest athletes in a very high level competition, in which judoka of world and Olympic caliber took part. “Always proud of him and his journey”, wrote the Perugian club, which is now celebrating a very important bronze. It should be remembered that there to defend the colors of I Poeti del Judo there was also captain Marco Manganelli (category – 60kg) who did not reach the podium but «brought a lot of dedication and desire to win to the tatami». The club is certain of it, successes will come with him «We will do it again soon».
