A guide for entire generations, forged on the tatamis of via Nicolini with his sporting teachings, as the great judo teacher he was, but also with his life lessons. He has transmitted principles of correctness and loyalty to his boys since 1968. «Via Nicolini was the street of “judo”, as everyone called it at the time, where the first branch of the Kodokan Chieti had opened. Luccitti continued to follow judo until the end. A few months ago he had closely followed the exploits of the Kodokan jewels in Zagreb, Lucio Tavoletta e Alessandro Bruno D’Urbanorespectively champion and vice champion of the Cadet world. «He saw the first European and world championship last year celebrating Lucio and Alessandro. A few days ago I also showed him the photos of the boys who had just joined the Carabinieri Sports Group”, continues Tavoletta. «The “master” was the only 7th Dan in the history of judo in Abruzzo, he was a meritorious master, the first to work with Japanese masters and collect the art of this discipline. «His students have truly distinguished themselves in life too: lawyers, airline pilots, special forces soldiers, surgeons… His teachings go beyond sport. It is a piece of life for many in Chieti.” Rolando Luccitti’s funeral will be held this morning, at 10.30, in the Trinity church.
