This year’s Ibaraki Prefecture high school baseball selection team has been formed, with 20 second-year students from 20 schools selected from the northern, Mito, southern, and western regions of Tokiwa University, located in Kobuki-cho, Mito City, competing on the 24th. We had a joint practice on the field. On the 30th, they will play a warm-up match against the University of Tsukuba at Hitachinaka Municipal Stadium.
Sponsored by the Prefectural High School Baseball Federation. The event has been held since last year, with the aim of encouraging players who are normally rivals to interact with each other and improve their competitiveness.
The members included Kasumigaura’s pitcher Saiki Ichimura, who played an active role as the ace at Koshien in the summer, and Tsukuba Hidehide’s ace pitcher Reo Hatomi, who won the autumn prefectural tournament. Akihide Hitachi coach Seiho Kanazawa will lead the team.
During practice, we carefully checked actual movements such as coordination between the infield and outfield by performing knocks with runners in place. There were times when players were not used to playing and the timing could not match, so Coach Kanazawa gave passionate guidance, saying, “Let’s focus on communicating and covering each other while feeling the movement of the ball and the runner.”
The players actively exchanged opinions while playing, and were seen chatting and laughing during lunch.
Pitcher Hatomi said, “I was inspired by the high level of fielding and covering. I will train in the winter and improve my level.” Shimotsuma Hajime’s catcher Tomonoshin Shimojo, who set the mood and set the mood, said, “I’m glad that the players played with all their might and raised their voice.I want to absorb a lot and take it home with me as a representative of my school.” .
