“His focus is on preparing for the Australian Open”
Roger Federer’s former coach Ivan Ljubicic explained why Novak Djokovic is not participating in the Paris Masters. The 24-time Grand Slam champion withdrew from the final Masters 1000 of the year, leaving it unclear whether he has ended his season or wants to return for the ATP Finals.

Djokovic is currently sixth in the ATP race and has a good chance of qualifying for the final, although he still has to wait for the results of his rivals.

Will Djokovic return to the ATP Finals?

The Serb could have secured his place in the final had he progressed a few rounds in Paris, but ultimately confirmed his absence, saying: “Unfortunately I won’t be taking part in the Paris Masters this year. I have a lot of great memories from seven won titles and hope to be there again next year. I’m sorry to everyone who was hoping to see me there.”

His withdrawal suggests that he will not return to the court this season, especially since Djokovic himself has stated that he remains focused on the Grand Slams and the tournaments in which he represents Serbia.

Novak Djokovic’s friend and Federer’s former coach Ivan Ljubicic said in a recent interview that Djokovic no longer cares about the rankings and is putting all his physical and mental energy into doing his best in the upcoming Grand Slams.

“I don’t know how long Novak will play and I don’t think he knows either. In my opinion he is not interested in smaller tournaments or a place on the ATP list.”

“I don’t think he’s physically or mentally ready for it yet. But he showed everyone in Shanghai that he can still be one of the best if he wants to,” the Croatian added. “I don’t think he’s even thinking about the last Masters in Turin. His focus is on preparing as well as possible for 2025 and the Australian Open.”
