Historic success: German boxer Tina Rupprecht holds all three world titles

The professional boxer Tina Rupprecht has celebrated a historic success. By winning the unification fight against the Japanese Eri Matsuda in Heidelberg, the Augsburg native holds the three world championship titles of the WBC, WBO and WBA associations in the atomweight class. Never before had a German professional held three important world championship belts for women and men at the same time. She won the WBC title in January.

“It’s indescribable, it’s my life’s dream. I still can’t believe it,” said the 32-year-old, who also received the prestigious belt from the boxing magazine The Ring received. Among German boxers, only Max Schmeling had previously received this award in 1930.

Rupprecht completed her 14th professional victory, having only lost a fight once. The boxer delivered a strong fight against her opponent and won on points (97:92, 96:93, 96:93). Rupprecht, who works as a teacher, laid the foundation for her victory in the first round when she sent Matsuda to the ground with a hit to the chin.
