Like every year, The Evita National Games were once again the protagonists of Argentine sports in the traditional city of Mar del Plata with the participation of the 23 provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. Although at first it was in doubt, once again Río Negro was present.
For the first time in 76 years of sporting history of the Gamesthe Rio Negro delegation stood on the podium, achieving third place in the general table with 72 medals won. In addition, champions were established in adapted sports.
The competition took place from November 4 to 9 with a total of 36 disciplines in the conventional modality and 6 adaptedwhich meant that the Rio Negro delegation was made up of almost 400 athletes.
The energy was felt from the first day of competition when they began to emerge on the scene. This caused the province to rise with 32 gold medals, 22 silver and 18 bronze, reaching third place on the podium.
Through his social networks, Governor Alberto Weretilneck stood out “the dedication and effort of our young athletes and especially our adapted sports athletes, who became champions in their category.”
“This triumph reflects the transformative power of sport in the lives of our young people, their commitment and the constant effort that led them to represent our province with pride in each competition” he added.
It is worth noting that Of the total number of athletes in our province, 55 were from Bariloche which highlights the strong local presence that contributed several medals to the Rio Negro medal table.
