Emden/Hanover – Günter Zunder, 2nd chairman of the Emden Judo Club, has received a special honor. The 80-year-old was awarded the 2nd Dan (master degree) by the Lower Saxony Judo Association (NJV). Unlike usual, Tinder did not have to take a sporting exam. Rather, the association honored the life’s work of the Emden judo teacher with the new black belt. “A sign of recognition for his decades of commitment to sports and clubs,” writes the Emden Judo Club in a message to the editorial team.
With the award, the NJV honored Zunder’s many years of outstanding work as a board member and trainer. “For many years, Günter Zunder has worked tirelessly to support children and young people. With patience, passion and great skill, he has shaped generations of judoka and accompanied them on their sporting and personal paths. Günter Zunder is a pillar of the club. His work on the board and on the mat is priceless,” writes club chairman Heino Martens, who accompanied Zunder to the event in Hanover.
As part of the honor given by the chairman of the NJV, in addition to Günter Zunder, several judokas from other clubs and Olympic participants were also honored. The Emden Judo Club was delighted with the celebratory setting.
