Australian tennis star Thanasi Kokkinakis risked running into glamorous ex-girlfriend Hannah Dal Sasso at the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday, more than a month after their breakup became public.
The pair were photographed at Flemington for Australia’s big race along with many other sports stars and celebrities.
Outsider Knight’s Choice achieved a notable feat, winning the showpiece event with a photo finish ahead of favorites Buckaroo, Onesmoothoperator and the Willie Mullins-trained Vauban.
The horse, ridden by Irish-born jockey Robbie Dolan, was backed at 100/1 before the race.
A host of sports stars, celebrities and public figures rounded out the festivities in Melbourne on Tuesday, with both Dal Sasso and Kokkinakis in attendance.
Kokkinakis, fresh off his victory over Rinki Hijikata in New South Wales last month, appears to be enjoying some time away from the court as the ATP Tour comes to a close ahead of next week’s Nitto ATP Finals in Turin.
The 28-year-old also got his hands on the Melbourne Cup before it was handed over to Dolan after the race, posing with the coveted trophy backstage at Flemington.
Meanwhile, Dal Sasso was one of many horse racers who wore red for the event. The entrepreneur arrived at the racecourse wearing a stunning custom dress designed by Melbourne designer Madoh. The dress featured a corset top and plunging neckline.
Dal Saso posted photos and videos of herself wearing a silk dress on her Instagram story and received cheers from fans in the comments.
‘I have no words,’ one person wrote, while another added: ‘You never disappoint.’

His ex-girlfriend Hannah Dal Sasso also attended the event and dazzled in a dazzling red dress.
This comes just over a month after the Australian businessman and tennis star’s split became public news.
The tennis world was shocked after Kokkinakis and Dal Sasso quietly split last September, with fans discovering online that the Australian couple had stopped following each other on Instagram.
It is reported that the two were together for about a year and a half and maintained a long-distance relationship while Kokkinakis traveled around the world competing on the ATP Tour.
This season, Kokkinakis won her first clay-court title since 2021 at Sarasota on the Challenger Tour and then reached the third round at the French Open. This is his best performance in a Grand Slam men’s singles event.
Dal Sasso owns and operates his own online clothing rental business, Styled By Mim, which rents designer clothing to people across Australia.
She is also a model and marketer and has over 62,000 followers on Instagram.
The pair were pictured together at Wimbledon earlier this year before she traveled to the US with him as part of the country’s summer swing.
Their relationship first became public in March 2023 when the pair were photographed at the Glamor on the Grid event in Melbourne.
She previously revealed that she has difficulty maintaining a long-term relationship with Kokkinakis because he often competes on the ATP Tour.
Hannah told the Herald Sun: ‘We’ve had a great month together and I miss him already. ‘Long distance travel is really difficult,’ he said.
‘Tanashi is really dedicated to tennis and gives his all. I’m really proud of him.’

Kokkinakis recently won the New South Wales Open and posted a photo of herself and a friend heading to the race on Tuesday.
The tennis star previously paid tribute to his ex-girlfriend after beating Alexei Popyrin to advance to the second round of the French Open in May.
‘(I’m) a late bloomer. So we are trying to do that, but it is also difficult. But she was great,” he said.
