The Spanish airline Iberia launched the first Airbus A321XLR in the world on the direct route between Madrid and Boston with a duration of 8 hours and 15 minutes.

The Spanish airline marks a milestone in the industry with the incorporation of this new long-range aircraft, offering greater comfort, efficiency and sustainability, but all within a single-aisle aircraft.

The first A321XLR is already flying commercially

Iberia has written a new chapter in the history of aviation. With the premiere of the Airbus A321XLR, the Spanish airline is positioned at the forefront of the industry, offering its passengers an unparalleled flight experience on transoceanic routes. This new aircraft model, designed to reach distances previously unimaginable for a narrow body, represents a quantum leap in terms of efficiency, comfort and sustainability.

Here I share a complete video with shots and data of the plane so you can see it inside and out:

The A321XLR, with its capacity to travel up to 7,500 kilometers non-stop carrying 182 passengers in two classes (14 in Business and 168 in Economy), will redefine the way we understand long-haul travel. Its innovative features, such as higher capacity fuel tanks and state-of-the-art engines, allow it to operate transatlantic routes with unprecedented energy efficiency.

The A321XLR Business cabin is an oasis of luxury and comfort, including free Wi-Fi for messaging throughout the flight and a larger compartment for hand luggage. The full-flat seats, with direct access to the aisle, become real beds so that passengers can enjoy a restful rest. In addition, the cabin features a state-of-the-art entertainment system, customizable ambient lighting and spacious compartments for carry-on luggage.

The Economy cabin, although more economical, does not skimp on comfort. Ergonomic seats, individual high-definition screens and an in-flight entertainment system ensure an enjoyable flight experience for all passengers. All seats have screens and USB A and C charging ports, and you can also connect your headphones via Bluetooth.

The A321XLR is not only a comfortable and efficient aircraft, but also environmentally friendly. Thanks to its lower fuel consumption and the latest emissions reduction technologies, it contributes to the sustainability of the aviation sector.

With the A321XLR, Iberia opens a range of new possibilities to connect cities around the world. The first destinations to benefit from this new aircraft will be Boston and Washington DC, but the airline plans to expand its route network in the coming months.

Both destinations could not initially be served on twin-aisle aircraft such as an A330 or A350 due to the real demand of the route, but thanks to the A321XLR the airline will be able to open new routes with growth potential over time, literally, the new plane will serve as It launches routes on which starting with larger aircraft would not be profitable.
