Pep Guardiola revealed that Rúben Dias will be absent from the field “in the near future”, due to injury, and is expected to miss the last two rounds of the Nations League with Portugal.
“Rúben Dias is injured and will remain so until the international break. He will only return after that”, admitted the Manchester City coach, in a press conference, after City’s defeat at Bournemouth (2-1), in the Premier League.
Due to a muscle injury, Dias is expected to miss the national team’s meetings with Poland, on November 15, in Porto, and with Croatia, three days later, in Split. In Group A1, Portugal leads and needs just one point to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Nations League.
Rúben Dias was a total player in the first four rounds with the ‘quinas’ team, along with Nuno Mendes and goalkeeper Diogo Costa.
Portugal, which is coming off a victory over Poland (3-1) and a draw with Scotland (0-0) in away games in October, leads group A1, with 10 points, three more than Croatia (seven ), second place, while Poland is third, with four, and Scotland is last, with one.
The list of players called up by coach Roberto Martínez will be released on Friday, at Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras.
