A new weekend where the athletes and clubs of Baena have completed a participation full of emotions and challenges.
On Sunday morning the traditional ‘Hogar Social de la Calle Alta‘ Chess Tournament took place. A championship that year after year attracts a significant number of chess clubs from the province of Córdoba. From 10:00 a.m. around fifty players competed in the tournament, and after six rounds the championship was led in the general classification by José Antonio Díaz Rodríguez. Raúl Molina traveled to Huelva where the National Under-15 Master was taking place. Raúl was crowned champion in the men’s doubles category, along with Guillermo Muñoz. an achievement that highlights his dedication and skills in the sport.
In addition, the Baena Badminton Club’s youth team demonstrated its potential, with young promises such as Pablo López and Juanjo Lastres. Pablo, at 8 years old, and Juanjo managed to reach the quarterfinals. Juanjo Lastres, sub-13 did not have much luck and did not make it past the quarterfinals in singles and doubles.
Good performance by the young tennis player Alberto Mora
The young Baen tennis player Alberto Mora has left his mark in the Andalusian U-15 Championship, held at the prestigious CD Open Arena in Córdoba. Mora shone in the first rounds of the individual draw, advancing with determination and a high level of play, until he finally fell in the quarterfinals, falling just short of the semifinals. His defeat against Manuel Carretero, seed number 5, was a close duel decided in a double 6-4 that showed the high performance of both players and where the physical demands of the doubles match took its toll.
