After basketball and athletics, badminton! The France Travail agency in Châteauroux Balsan offered a new sport to job seekers present at its third unusual job dating “From the stadium to employment”, Tuesday November 19, 2024, at the Belle-Isle gymnasium, in Châteauroux. And once again, the formula was popular, since around 90 people looking for work responded.
They were able to meet around twenty employers from sixteen companies in the department, from fields as diverse as public works, integration, catering or temporary employment… With an immutable particularity which makes the success of the format: applicants for Jobs and employers are first mixed anonymously within teams during the morning, and only reveal their true colors in the afternoon, during individual interviews.
Half of the participants “in sustainable employment” six months later
Experimented for two years, the formula has proven itself, since according to Louise Hodler, team manager at France Travail, “on average, six months after the event, 50% of the candidates who participated are in long-term employment (CDI or long CDD)”. Another clue: the few withdrawals: “We have 90 candidates present out of 108 registered, it’s a very good rate. »
It must be said that the concept and framework allow candidates to highlight qualities not necessarily detectable within the walls of a recruitment office: “Benevolence, understanding of instructions, and even, for some, a competitive spirit…”explains Louise Hodler. “Rigour, goodwill and team spirit”specifies Cloé Chatelain, human resources assistant at Familles Rurales de l’Indre.
“We are looking for motivated candidates above all”
“We are looking for motivated candidates above all, even if they do not necessarily have a diploma in home help”adds his colleague, Justine Fillaudeau, sector manager of the association in Buzançais. She also confides that she herself was recruited by Familles Rurales through a previous similar job dating event, when she was only an intern!
Among the candidates of the day, they were able to come across Antonin Giraudon, 21 years old, with a BTS in technical sales, who is now looking for a position in “secretarial work, sales, commerce, banking or insurance”. He believes that the event allows him to assert “team organization skills” and of “show that we are reaching out to people”. In short, to score points, literally and figuratively.
