Originally from Bias, brothers Julian and Hector Vincent achieved the feat of getting on the podium at the world judo kata championships, which took place in Las Vegas.

They had announced the color: “We are aiming for the podium!” At 22 years old, the twins Julian and Hector Vincent have just made their dream come true this last weekend at the under-23 judo kata world championships which took place in Las Vegas (United States). After Krakow (Poland) in 2022 and Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) where they finished both times in fifth place, the 2024 French champions were able to seize their last chance in this category by climbing onto the third step of the podium in the outcome of a polished technical performance under the admiring gaze of their friends from the French team and the leaders of the Federation.

The Japanese eliminated in group play

Twelve couples qualified for this international competition. They were divided into two groups of six, the first three of each of them being called to compete in the final phase. Winners of theirs, Julian and Hector were getting closer to their objective. Especially since the Japanese, huge favourites, committed a serious mistake which barred them from reaching the final!
In no way stressed and perfectly in control of their movements, the Biasnais duo seduced the jury of five judges who awarded them the bronze medal behind the two duos representing Spain.

We can imagine the joy of the French clan and that which we shared on Sunday with the family of the two heroes, Marie the mother, Bruno the father, trainer of the Bias Judo Club who trained them from the age of four, and the president from the Jean-Marc Tonti club who during the night from Saturday to Sunday followed the performance of his foals live on social networks.

The party this next weekend

Julian and Hector will only be able to savor their success next weekend. Returning from Las Vegas this Tuesday morning, they will immediately go to Bordeaux where they will continue their studies in a Staps degree. In preparing for their professional life, both demonstrate the same intelligence, the same seriousness and the same good humor as in their favorite sporting activity. We will meet them as soon as they return to the country so that they can give us their impressions of this historic moment that they have just experienced. Will they continue practicing kata in 2025 among seniors where competition will be fiercer?
