It is enough to wake up one day in the tropics to understand that at those latitudes the light changes, and with it the intensity of the scents, the reflection of the sky in the water, the taste of the fruits and the warmth of the people. Immersed in a coconut palm forest, Viva Dominicus Beach by Wyndham, the first resort built in Bayahibe in the now distant 1987, it is this and much more: an oasis of peace in the early hours of the morning, the best to experience the silence that will make you think of being on a desert island. It only takes a few hours to see that everything is transformed into a place of entertainment (there are still spaces where you can relax and isolate yourself from the Caribbean frenzy) with a vast range of activities.
The Dominican Republic it is a real world to discover, where green is greener, where Caribbean culture shows itself in all its variety, a meeting point between a country that lives on traditional customs and the lexicon of ancestral peoples, between spiritual rites of influence Creole that meet with products imported first from Europe and then from the United States, including baseball. Surrounded by the sea on three sides, and bordering Haiti to the east, a week is not enough to discover the beauties of a land that is increasingly adapting to the demands of new tourism, more aware and curious to know the territory.
Viva Dominicus Beach by Wyndham is the right place to stay a stone’s throw from the sea, in the only structure that develops parallel to the sea, literally on the Caribbean Sea, more precisely on the beach that was the first in the Americas to obtain the Blue Flag. Easy to reach thanks to Neos flights that arrive at La Romana airport, just 20 km from Bayahibe, it is the place to enter “slow” mode, experiencing the long Caribbean times with days that never end and enjoying every minute available, without haste. From the morning with breakfast by the pool, or a few steps from the sea, to the lively evenings animated by rich Viva Vibe programmeevery day is never the same as the previous one: every evening themed parties, during the day entertainment on the beach and excursions of half a day or more to get to know the hidden beauties of the island, by boat or on four wheels.
The rest you have to see with your own eyes.
A week at Viva Dominicus Beach by Wyndham, all the activities we recommend
Excursions and diving are not included in the resort’s All Inclusive package*
Visit to the Saona Island nature reserve
Excursions depart right from the resort’s beach as early as possible and in just an hour and a half of navigation on a speed boat they will take you to theSaona Islandwith a small stop at the natural pools, where the shallow water and starfish will make you think you are on another planet. Lunch break on the island organized by Viva Dominicus Beach by Wyndham and after a couple of hours dedicated to the sun and the beach (if you find shells remember to leave them there), you will return to your room with your eyes full of wonder.
Catalina Island
It is a snorkelling paradise in an area where, despite the blue water and shallow seabed, the coral reef is not present everywhere. Here, however, it will be possible to carry out some of the most beautiful diving on the island, made up of three overlapping coral plateaus, which make the island one of the most interesting destinations for underwater activities, where the marine fauna is among the most varied in the area.
Montaña Redonda, region of Miches
In the nearby region of Miches, a few kilometers from Punta Cana, one of the most lush areas of the Dominican Republic develops. And here, where the new Viva resort (which we will write about soon)we went to get to know the area and the beaches on which the new large structure will be built. A visit to Montaña Redonda will be a fundamental appointment to see the sea from another perspective. Once you reach the base of the hill, an open-top bus will take you to the top, on an impervious road that is part of the same experience. Have you ever cycled at 300 meters above sea level? Here you can also do this.
Water sports
Viva Dominicus Beach extends for approximately one and a half kilometers along the coast of the Caribbean Sea and boasts a long white sand beach, on which it is possible to carry out various activities: from kayaking, catamaran without motor, SUP and windsurfing every day you can dedicate yourself to a different activity with or without an instructor, to do alone or in company. Then there are the trapeze sports activities (with a teacher who will help you twirl in the air), padel, tennis, zumba, gym with personal training. In short, there are all ways to experience an active holiday. Because the sea in the Dominican Republic is much more.
