Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia and Chief Minister Atishi visited Delhi Sports School of Delhi Government located in Civil Lines on Wednesday morning and met the students. During this, first of all the students welcomed Manish Sisodia and CM Atishi by applying tilak. Both the leaders learned from the students about their preparations regarding the school, its facilities, training, diet and sports. Besides, both of them also visited the sports facilities present in different parts of the school and met the players doing table tennis, archery, weightlifting, wrestling, boxing and swimming.
Talents are nurtured in Delhi Sports School
Let us tell you that in Delhi Sports School, sports talents are selected through talent scouting in different states of India for classes sixth and ninth and then Sports School which is a residential school. The school provides excellent training and facilities for the 10 Olympic sports. During the conversation today, students shared their experiences with Manish Sisodia and CM Atishi and said that when we were playing sports in our state, our dream was to master our sport so that we could get a job in some department. I get a job. But after coming to this school, our thinking changed and now our dream is not to get a job through sports but to win gold in the Olympics for the country.
Dream of winning medal at international level
Another student said that due to the facilities and training we received before coming to this school, we had in our minds that we would participate in state level competitions. But due to the facilities and training we have received after coming to this school, today we are playing at the national level and will soon win medals for the country at the international level as well. On this occasion, Manish Sisodia also interacted with the students of the sports school. He said that sports school was like a dream for me and there can be no more emotional moment than the dream you saw 10 years ago and seeing it coming true today. He shared that there was a time when there used to be a dilapidated building here. But today there is this wonderful sports school equipped with world class facilities.
What did CM Atishi say?
On this occasion, CM Atishi said that till now studies and sports have always been considered separate in the country. This is the reason that despite having such a large population, when we look at the medal table in the Olympics, we are at the bottom. Delhi government is working to change this concept. We are trying to create such an environment through Delhi Sports University and Delhi Sports School under it, where sports will be the education of the players and every person in the country will be able to say that sports is also education.
