Vegas D 1″ width=”300″ height=”400″ style=”margin: 8px; float: left;”/>The first day of the World Veteran Judo Championships in vegas awarded medals in the four highest men’s classes: M6, M7, M8, M9 and Italy immediately received a silver medal with Giuliano Invernizzisecond in the 100 kg M9.
Giuliano Invernizzi kg.100 M9 carried Italy’s honor high at the veteran world championships in Las Vegas, winning another precious silver medal which enriches his collection of world and European medals.
The round-robin with 4 athletes competing saw him first pitted against the German Lothar Sterlinsky, who was overcome with an excellent wazari, then Giuliano was forced to give way to the Moldovan Mihail Malear, winner of the category, then completing his race with the victory for Wazari over the American James Dugal.
“I tried to give my best,” he said Giuliano Invernizzi– and I brought a medal for Italy. I was hoping it was gold, but then it faded. I also faced the new 100 kg category for the first time, always supported by Manuela Tadini and Massimo Lucidi, two fabulous companions.”
Seventh place instead, for the other three athletes competing today, Luca Spadini in the 81 kg M6, “I’m a little disappointed, the level is very high, with numerous athletes”, Giovanni Lucantoni in the 73 kg M9, “I could have managed the race, especially in the recovery” and Fabio Acerbi in the 81 kg M8 “An opportunity missed, however I am still seventh in the world! With a bit of luck I certainly could have faced the final for third place.”
Tomorrow, second day of competitions, with the M1 and M3 classes.
