The 2024 Italian Absolute and Para Badminton Championships stop for the first time in Chiari, where the Italian youth titles were also awarded just a month ago.
Now, the city of Clare is ready to host the best 150 badminton talents, coming from 37 clubs, who will compete to win the five Italian titles and the one reserved for the team competition.
In Para Badminton, Yuri Ferrigno (BC Milano) will try to achieve yet another double by winning both the WH1 men’s singles title and the WH doubles title paired with Roberto Punzo (GSPD). In the WH2 men’s singles, the fight seems to be entirely internal to the GSPD, with Punzo, Piero Rosario Suma and Salvatore Vasta ready to compete for places on the podium. Punzo will also try to achieve the hat-trick by playing the WH mixed doubles final together with Diana Luta, challenging Giuseppe Maurizio/Maria Grazia Leone (ASAM/SEI).
In the WH women’s singles, the challenge will see Diana Luta (Alba Shuttle) and Maria Grazia Leone (SEI) as protagonists. In the SL3 men’s singles, the three-way challenge will be between Tommaso Libertini (Genova BC), Davide Posenato (BC Verona) and Mattia Miotto (Padova Badminton). Finally, in the SU5 singles, Rosa De Marco (GSPD) will have to contend with Gianfranco Iaconelli (ASAM) and Calogero Sanfilippo (Easy Play).
