Italy defeated the Netherlands 2-0 in the 2024 Davis Cup final held in Malaga, Spain on the 25th (Korean time).
With this, Italy won the Davis Cup crown for the third time, following 1976 and 2023.
In addition, Italy swept the men’s and women’s national tennis competitions by winning the Davis Cup following the recently concluded Billy Jean King Cup, the women’s national tennis competition.
Italy got off to a good start with Matteo Berrettini (35th), who played first singles, defeating Netherlands’ Botik Vanderjanjulf (80th) 2-0 (6-4 6-2).
Then, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, who competed in the second singles, defeated Talon Griggspoor (40th) 2-0 (7-6 6-2), confirming his victory.
Ace Sinner reached the top of two major tournaments this year, including the Australian Open and the US Open, and had the best season by winning the Men’s Professional Tennis (ATP) Tour Finals, the king of the season, and even the Davis Cup.
