The tournament will feature eight countries (Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Australia, USA, Germany, Canada, and Argentina) competing for the world’s number one spot in a tournament format. The match will consist of two singles matches and one doubles match, with the winner being the first to win two matches.
Italy, last year’s champions, will be competing in the tournament aiming to win the tournament for the second time in a row, with top singles players including world No. 1 J. Sinner (Italy), L. Musetti (Italy), and M. Berrettini (Italy). They advanced to the final by defeating Argentina in the quarterfinals and Australia in the semifinals.
On the other hand, the Netherlands made it to the quarterfinals thanks to the efforts of world No. 40 T. Freekspoel (Netherlands), world No. 80 B. van de Zansfulp (Netherlands), and doubles expert W. Kuhlhoff (Netherlands). Spain defeated Germany in the semifinals, advancing to the final for the first time in its 104-year history.
The first singles match of the final featured Berrettini, ranked 35th in the world, and Van de Zansfulp. Berrettini played a service game in which he hit 16 aces and never gave van de Zansfulp a break point, and in the return game he was able to break him three times in total. Italy took the lead with a comfortable 6-4, 6-2 straight victory in 1 hour and 16 minutes.
In the second singles match, ace Shinner was introduced and he clashed with Freaks Paul. Sinner also served well, hitting 15 service aces and limiting his freak pole break to just one. In the return game, he got three breaks and defeated him in straight sets, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2, clinching his second consecutive victory in the tournament.
With the loss, the Netherlands did not win the tournament for the first time, and finished as runners-up.
