Marsala – Happy sixth day of the championship for a well-organised Nuova Pallacanestro Marsala who emerged victorious from the direct clash with Sport Club Gravina with a score of 69-54, the result of an excellent team performance with five men in double figures.
In the first quarter, at the ready, the guests took the lead for a short while, but it was Niang who brought NPM back to level within a short space of time. The two teams chase each other point for point but it is towards the end that NPM extends to +6 and at the first siren prevails 18-15 thanks in particular to the two triples from Farruggia and the good scoring streak and the contribution in the defensive phase of Tartamella.
From the middle of the second half coach Minnella had to do without the Lithuanian Benas Hofsteteris, one of the best scorers in the championship with an average of over 23 points, who had to leave early due to an ankle injury that put him out for the rest of the match. His absence is felt for the guests and thanks above all to the contribution of Gentile, who scored twice from within 6.75 minutes, Grillo’s boys were able to manage the advantage which reached up to +7 until the half-time siren long with the scoreboard showing the score at 35-30.
In the third half, NPM reached +8 at the start with a triple from Miculis but the guests came back to -1 with 3 minutes left until half time with Tartaglia who in the end was the team’s best scorer with 21 points. Gentile once again pushes the Gravino team back from the arc, but Carluccio closes in from under the basket at the end to make it 48-44.
In the final quarter the Marsala team took off, reaching +15 thanks to a decisive break which had its best scorer in Niang, author of 13 points on the scoresheet like Farruggia and Gentile.
Nuova Pallacanestro Marsala will return to the field next Saturday, November 16th at 7:00 pm in Reggio Calabria at the Pala Pentimele against Dierre Reggio Calabria.
