Jannik Sinner returns to the Middle East for his training camp in Dubai.

Even at the Masters tournament in Paris-Bercy, discussions about the sporting significance of the “Six King Slams” still hadn’t subsided. The reason for this was the ATP tournament cancellations of players who took part in the highly prized show event in Saudi Arabia. After the 500 events in Basel and the Erste Bank Open in Vienna had to do without top players such as Sinner, Alcaraz and Djokovic in advance, Medvedev canceled the Wiener Stadthalle at short notice due to shoulder problems.

When Jannik Sinner canceled the 1000 event in Paris due to illness, tournament director Cedric Pioline didn’t hold back with his opinion. When asked whether he saw a connection between the exhibition tournament in Riyadh and the South Tyrolean’s cancellation for Paris-Bercy, the former world number five described the event in Saudi Arabia as disruptive for tennis as a whole.

Not directly in Saudi Arabia, but still in the Middle East, the world number one is planning his preparation for the 2025 tennis season. As “La Gattetta dello Sport” reports, Sinner will train in Dubai from December 10th until the Christmas holidays. In the last two years, the 23-year-old has been preparing for the new season in Europe with Monte Carlo and Alicante.

This time, however, Sinner should be spared the renewed flare-up of a moral discussion. In recent years, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic have chosen the metropolis in the United Arab Emirates with its combination of warm weather and privacy for the needed finishing touches in the off-season.
