🏀 JJ Redick: «Christie? If he does this, he will play more.”

Coach JJ Redick he gave his post-race interviews directly from the press room. The yellow-purple coach began his interview by talking about the performance of Max Christie and later of the importance of LeBron James in the game system losangeleno. Finally he praised the performance of the second unit and the commitment shown by the team.

«I’m very happy for Max. In the last 2 weeks there have been some players who have dropped out of rotations, including Max, so I’m really happy. I hope he can maintain this level in every match, because the way he faced Wemby was almost perfect, and if he continues like this I won’t be able to do anything but give him more space.”

«In recent days I have spoken with LeBron, to try to understand which role he is most comfortable in, since even if he doesn’t take many shots he manages to make an impact by collecting rebounds and assists in quantity, and always finding the right play. It’s incredible for the group to see the intensity they put into defending, limiting second offensive chances and grabbing rebounds. The best thing for me and for the staff is to see how easily the offensive system can evolve, managing to find LBJ and AD in the right place and time.»

«There were some key plays, including one to build a three-pointer by AR at the start of the game, in which LeBron was the 4th man to touch the ball. All the mutual trust, which forced the opponents to face various different scenarios within a single possession, was an example of how we have to play and how we have planned everything. It’s not easy to win a game in this league.»

Gabe Vincentwith a performance of 6 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals, with 2/4 from the field and 1/2 from 3 points, he spoke about the good performance offered by himself and his bench-unit teammates, as well as the importance of the collective’s state of mind and how winning can help positively. Finally he spoke about the attitude with which the Lakers went down and intend to take the field in the future.

«Our second unit brings great energy, which can influence the flow of the game in a positive way. We faced the imposed pressure by stealing several balls, managing to create and finish a lot, especially by taking advantage of the offensive transition. Every time the ball goes in you are happy for yourself and for the team. Tonight every basket was crucial in helping the team win.”

«Being able to carry out a good road trip was essential to change the situation and play the matches NBA Cup upped the ante. But it doesn’t change the respect towards the opponents or the seriousness with which one takes to the field. We cannot be static so as not to make marking easier for our opponents. In general, everyone’s contribution was fundamental and it was an excellent victory.”

Also Max Christie he answered questions from the media and journalists at the end of the race after offering his valuable contribution.

«Coach Redick has a lot of faith in us and in me in particular. I appreciate it very much. I know what my tasks are on the pitch and every time I go on the pitch trying to accomplish them and tonight was an example of that. I took to the field with a free mind, demonstrating my level and without complicating my life. Our opponents created several problems for us on pick-and-rolls, with Chris Paul e The animal. We already had some adjustments in mind to make. I tried to limit Wemby, aware of his size and ability, making the most of my physicality to break his rhythm, closing his passage ways from the post and giving my team a chance to win.”

«AD is a point of reference for us, therefore both in the offensive and defensive phases we must make sure of his positioning, to try to lead the opponents towards his blocks. Obviously LeBron and AD are our cornerstones, but there are many of us besides them and we have to be able to create our own plays. Our mutual trust is very important and we are showing it.”

🔥 Austin Reaves: «AD followed my advice…»

Author of a performance of 19 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, with 6/12 from the field and 5/9 from beyond the arc, Austin Reaves he spoke about the team’s good performance, focusing in particular on those of some teammates, such as Anthony Davis, LeBron James e Max Christie.

«AD is shooting really well so far. For 3 years I’ve been asking him to shoot more and he’s finally listening to me. Not that he does it because he listened to me (laughs, ed.). But with that pace from the perimeter he manages to expand offensive spaces. In situations like this it also influences the long opponents, forcing them to make a defensive choice.”

«Max played really well, he was a spark off the bench for us, with his shots and rebounds and high defensive intensity. LeBron makes it easy for us when he sets up the game. The way he wants to dominate the game influences us, in our shooting choices or in our positioning. As for AD, every night don’t expect anything other than what you’ve seen so far.”
