Three finals at the Olympics
Aurore LeQuatre is appreciated by the world federation: “I made three finals, the ladies’ singles, the mixed and the ladies’ doubles.”
This is not the first time she has participated in an Olympic competition. “I had been designated for the Paralympic Games in Tokyo. But it was without an audience. It was totally different.”
On two occasions, she was received with delegations at the Royal Palace. “The Queen was interested in our activities”, she indicates.
Before the Olympics, she was in China for the intercountry championships. “It was very impressive. In China, badminton is very popular. It’s a real show. All continents were represented. I stayed there ten days.“
Secretary of the Belgian federation
Last August, she applied to organize the European Championships which took place in Belgium, in Zolder. “I participated in the management of matches and referees.“
The Jodoignoise is not content with being a linesman. “I am a referee for national tournaments. My goal is to go international.”
She was present as a referee in Ghent last weekend for the Belgian championships. “I don’t play much anymore. I am also secretary of the Belgian federation.“
We understand that his free time and time off are devoted to badminton. “It’s volunteering. When the costs are too high, I cover part of them. In China, we are very well received. I would like to go back.“
