Mr. Kimmich, when you think of the European Championships in the summer: which scene comes to mind first?
The fan march in Stuttgart, before our game against Hungary, was a big European Championship moment. We had a hotel in the city center, directly opposite the main train station, and when I looked out the window in the afternoon, thousands of fans in Germany jerseys were passing by on the street below. They sang and shouted battle cries. I didn’t understand what exactly, but the window pane vibrated. That was the moment when I felt: the country is behind us.
