Judo Master, Leonardo Rocca from Imola reaches the podium at the world championships in Las Vegas

IThe Imola judoka born in 1982 Leonardo Rocca won a splendid bronze medal at the Masters World Championships which took place in Las Vegas from November 4th to 6th.
The category in which the athlete from Romagna competed is reserved for athletes over 35, divided into age groups and weight categories. More than 1200 athletes representing 61 national states participated this year in the event organized by the International Judo Federation.
«I’m still in disbelief – comments Rocca before getting on the podium – It was a demanding race: five matches with very strong opponents. I truly gave everything. I thank my family and the gyms where I train, Judo Imola and Dojo Equipe Bologna.”
The judoka fought in the category at the 90 kilogram limit. 31 of the most highly rated athletes competing for the world title were present. This time, however, the forty-two year old athlete from Imola ran a perfect race. Three good victories in a row with a Mexican, an American and a Belgian. The defeat came in the semi-final with the Georgian who then won the silver medal while the last victory was achieved over a Brazilian athlete in the bronze final.
