Sainte-Geneviève Sports qualified for the quarter-finals of the Judo Pro League after its victory Wednesday evening in Chilly-Mazarin (4-3). A success acquired during the tenth and final fight of the evening. Despite its defeat, JC Chilly-Mazarin/Morangis will accompany SGS Judo and FLAM 91.
The qualifying phase of the Judo Pro League delivered its verdict on Wednesday evening. If FLAM 91 had secured its ticket for the quarter-finals on Tuesday evening by winning on the tatamis of Normandie Judo (6-2), JC Chilly-Mazarin/Morangis and Sainte-Geneviève Sports Judo engaged in a fratricidal fight Wednesday evening to also secure their ticket to the top 8.
In a glowing Jesse-Owens gymnasium where nearly 600 people took their seats to encourage their favorites, including the mayors of the three municipalities (Rafika Rezgui for Chilly-Mazarin, Brigitte Vermillet for Morangis, Frédéric Petitta for Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois) and double Olympic medalist Joan-Benjamin Gaba (JCCMM), the meeting kept all its promises in terms of suspense.
At the break, everything had to be done for both teams, Sainte-Geneviève leading only 2 victories to 1 after five fights. We had to wait for the third opposition and the victory on ippon of Clarisse Carillon (-57 kg) to see SGS Judo score the first point of the evening. In the process, Kassim Brosseau (-66 kg) equalized on a standstill before Marilyne Louis-Sidney (-63 kg) gave the advantage back to Sainte-Geneviève (1-2).
