On the 26th/27th October 2024, Laila Guliyev (+52 kg) and Sharleen Zenner (-36 kg) from TSV Steinrausch started at the 8th International Adler Cup in Frankfurt am Main, Kalbach. With almost 1,800 starters from all over the world, this judo tournament is one of the largest international youth tournaments in Germany. The field of female U13 participants was correspondingly large.
Sharleen started the tournament with two quick wins in her weight class. In the round of 16 she narrowly lost to her opponent from Leverkusen with a small score. Unfortunately, Sharleen had to end the tournament early due to knee problems and settle for ninth place.
Laila got off to a furious start and sent first an opponent from North Rhine-Westphalia and then an opponent from Kazakhstan onto the mat in a technically superior manner in under 20 seconds each. Only in the semifinals could she be stopped by the eventual winner from Switzerland. In the small final, however, like in the first two fights, she made short work of it and sensationally secured the bronze medal after just 27 seconds.
