The national competitions for the Beginners B (13-14 years old) and Beginners A (12 years old) classes took place in Corigliano Calabro (CS). For the ASD Provincial Judo Club of the Master Carmelo Mendolia 5 athletes participated.
Excellent placings obtained like 2nd place and podium di Giorgia D’Emilio in the 63 kg category. 5th place Paolo Aricò Kg. 60. The ninth classified, Saverio Lo Presti Kg. 50 and more Andrea Cirino 40 kg. 17th place for Scompany Lombardo in the new weight category 46 kg
“The race, states Maestro Mendolia, it proved to be of an excellent level given the massive presence of Clubs. As for our boys, we need to work on managing the weight category so as not to be penalised, as in the case of Lombardo who, one week before the competition, decided to change category and as a result he found notable differences in physicality in his opponents.
Same goes for Aricò and D’Emilio, good technical ideas for Cirino and Lo Presti. Overall, good technical qualities and some lack of attention were highlighted in the performances given that in the matches we lost we were always ahead and it would have been enough to maintain it. However, we are satisfied with the performances of our boys who, given their young age, have time to improve in the near future.”
