Anticipation is growing for the European under 23 judo championships, with 330 athletes from 36 nations competing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 17 November in Pila, Poland. The Italian team, led by coaches Francesco Bruyere and Pierangelo Toniolo, is made up of 18 athletes, the maximum possible with nine women and nine men like Poland and Ukraine. These are the protagonists: Asia Avanzato, Giulia Ghiglione (48), Carlotta Avanzato, Agnese Zucco (63), Ludovica Franzosi, Claudia Sperotti (70), Irene Caleo (78), Tiziana Marini, Erica Simonetti (+78), Emiliano Lattanzi, Francesco Pio Stefanelli (60), Federico Ninfo, Giuseppe De Tullio (66), Samuel Salvo (73), Alessandro Bellini, Bright Maddaloni Nosa (81), Enrico Signorini (90), Jean Carletti (100).
Coach Bruyere’s optimism
“This is a high-level competition with good participation – commented the Italian coach Bruyere – the Italian selection is made up of athletes who have performed well at international level in the last two years, it is a very competitive team with great chances of a medal. Confident as always, we will give our best.”
