The Pan American Judo Confederation (CPJ) announced the latest update of the continental ranking towards the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games, in which various Mexican exponents appear at the top and close to their classification for said event.
The list was modified after the Montreal 2024 Pan American Cup, held a few days ago, where the Aztec representative won seven medals: one gold, three silver and three bronze, a result with which the selected teams were able to climb or reaffirm positions. .
Frida Maya, first place in the -57 kilograms with 420 points; Aylin Ávila, second place in the -52 kilograms with 620 points; Renata Sandoval, second position in the -70 kilograms with 380 points; and Eduardo Sagastegui, third place in the -60 kilograms with 490 points, are the best placed nationals.
María Cruz (-63 kg), Yamileth Juárez (-70 kg), Rafael Ramírez (-73 kg), Carlos Hernández (-60 kg), Gerardo Castelán (+100 kg), Paula Sánchez (-78 kg), Bárbara Sánchez (+78 kg) and Ian Aguirre (-66 kg) also appear among the top eight places in their categories.
In April 2025, the last two tournaments that will grant units for the qualifying ranking will be held: the Junior Pan American Cup and the Junior Pan American Championship, in which Mexico will seek to secure the greatest number of passes possible.
The qualification system for Asunción 2025 consists of the top seven positions in the Pan American ranking for each weight division, one place per category for the host country and a maximum of one representative per country in each division.
