Goalkeeper Josef Kořenář and forwards Filip Zadina and Jiří Smejkal also excused themselves from the first national team event of the season – the Finnish Karjala Cup – due to health problems. In their place, the national team added goalkeeper Jakub Málek and forwards Radan Lence and Michal Kunec to the roster.

The coaching staff already had to remove the best scorer of the Swedish league, David Tomášek, from the selection for the first event of the European tour, even that was marred by injury. Petr Kodýtek replaced him in the nomination.

Three more forced changes were announced by the national team on Monday morning. The meeting in Karlovy Vary will start in the evening, the initial training unit is scheduled from 5 p.m. He will challenge Sweden on Thursday in the spa metropolis.

Málek (22) and Lenc (33) already have experience in international hockey, while Kunc (24) from Olomouc received the prime minister’s invitation. The energetic winger claimed twelve extra-league points (3+9) in 17 games, and is currently proud of the status of the most productive fighter in Mora’s ranks.

Malk’s participation also makes sense from the point of view that he is active in Tampere at the club level. After all, he made his debut in the national team at Karjale last year and with solid performances he helped to win in Sweden and Finland.

And Lenz? The experienced striker has already played 70 games in the national team, including starts at two world championships or the Olympic Games in Beijing. After Jakub Flek, he will be the most proven player on the Czech roster.
