Keighley Badminton Club on fine run but need new players

The seven first team heroes who got the job done are Rotama Sitorus (Tarma), Daniel Homer, Dave Broadley, Paul Singleton, Roger Hewitt, Zohaib Ahmed and captain Jason Bond.

It impressively backs up the double success the club had last year, where both the firsts and seconds won their respective titles.

What makes the first team retaining their crown all the more remarkable is that they have had to deal with numerous injures and retirements.

Whether it be down to losing those aforementioned team members, or perhaps because of that remarkable run of titles over the last half-a-decade, Keighley Phoenix continues to look for new players of all abilities from 12 years of age upwards.

Contact them on Facebook at Keighley Phoenix Badminton Club or go to their club website to register your interest.

The Keighley club is also a proud member of Badminton England, with qualified coaches that will help with any coaching.

The club play at Holy Family School’s sports centre, which is on Spring Gardens Lane in Keighley.

The venue has the benefits of modern LED lighting technology, professional wood sprung flooring and full sized, well marked out courts with plenty of height and space.

There is ample parking space available and there are toilets and changing facilities at the venue.

Club nights and home matches are on Thursdays from 7:30pm-10pm although to a certain extent, some leeway is possible.

The start of the season is in September and it runs right the way through to the following summer.

Keighley’s 2024/25 season may have begun, but any new players can still join to play a part in the rest of the campaign.

And for anyone unsure or new to the area, the club allow anyone to drop in for a free, no-hassle tasting session.
